Answers:

How
thick are your walls?
4.75"

How
sturdy are your walls?
The
walls are very sturdy.

Can
we hang things on the wall?
Yes
- you can hang light things such as pictures and small mirrors,
but not heavy things such as bookshelves. A good rule is,
if you have to wonder if it's too heavy, it probably is.

How
wide are the doors?
The
standard door that we use is 30" wide, which is usually
wide enough to transfer most furniture in and out.

Is
the wall transferable from one apt. to another?
No.

Is
the wall sound proof?
The
wall does muffle noise. However, to help make the wall more
sound proof, we offer additional sound insulation for a small
fee (it goes inside the wall so it doesn't make the wall thicker.)
The sound insulation is very helpful, but understand that
it will not be any quieter than a normal wall.

What
is the difference between a regular wall and a temporary one?
The
difference between our temporary wall and a "real"
wall is that our wall is not attached to the existing structure
by screws (or anything else.) This allows a true "temporary"
solution, as no existing structures are damaged by fasteners.
Another difference is that a regular wall is smooth, whereas
our walls have small moldings on the seams between the sheetrock
(every 4'). See pictures for details.

What
if the ceilings in my apartment are not concrete?
The
exception to the above is if the ceilings in your apt are
not concrete. In that case, a few screws will be used to connect
the wall to the structure since we can't rely on the pressure.
We will patch the tiny holes when we take the wall down.

Do
the walls leave absolutely no marks after removal?
In
most circumstances, the walls are pressurized, so we do not
screw anything into the existing structure. The maximum damage
(and this rarely happens) is a scratch or minor mark as a
result of being and working there. This is the same minor
risk that you take when a moving company moves your furniture
etc. into the apartment. It's nothing that requires a real
repair, or that you might lose your security deposit over.

How
much does a temporary wall cost?
Prices
are determined based on ceiling height and wall length. Fill
out our Quote Form or call to
get the price for your project.

How
far ahead do I need to place my order?
During
May-December, it is preferable if you order about three weeks
ahead of time. If you don't have this much time, give us a
call or E-mail and we'll do our best to be available. Between
January-April a week ahead is usually enough.

What
needs to be done before the installers arrive to install the
wall?

- Clear the area where the wall will be installed (at least
four feet to either side). We can assist in moving furniture
for a small fee; however we do not take responsibility for
any damage that may occur.
- Please do not schedule your moving company the day we
will be there.

How
long does the installation take?
A
typical temporary wall usually takes 4-5 hours to install.
The larger the wall, the more time it takes. Also, other factors
can increase or decrease time (difficult access, crown moldings,
etc).
But regardless of your situation, it will almost never take
more than a day.

Do
you come beforehand to take measurements, etc.?
We
usually don't need to. Since the walls are not pre-fabricated,
we build them in the apartment, so even if you are a little
off with the measurements it won't be an issue. We'll just
need you to let us know the ceiling's height and wall length.
This saves everyone time and money.
However, we do realize some projects are unique and/or complex
- if you really feel we should see it first, we'll try to
make arrangements to come. Or you can also e-mail us pictures
of your setup if you feel it may pose an installation problem.

I
have a window or radiator where I want the wall to go. Is
that a problem?
The
wall is not pre-fabricated, so we could fit it to just about
any configuration. If the window is unused by you, we could
go right against the glass. If the window is used, we could
leave a 1" gap so you can open it.
